Most members expelled were local govt representatives
PESHAWAR:
With the elections now out of the way and the party ascending to power in the centre and in two provinces, it has set about tackling those members who displayed an “unsupportive attitude” towards the party during the general polls.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has cancelled the membership of 14 of its office bearers and district councillors.
A notification in this regard was issued by the party’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) South Region President Ali Amin Gandapur.

According to the notification, the 14 members of the party were found guilty of gross misconduct, violation of party discipline and open opposition to the party in the general elections.
The notification further stated that “due to the damage they have caused to political interest of the party, compromising party ideology, defaming PTI candidates with unsubstantiated and politically motivated allegations instigated by opposing candidates and parties, their memberships were being cancelled.”
It added that those who hold offices in the party will cease to be office bearers, while those who were representing the party in the local government will cease to be such and be treated as party defectors.
