Who wore it better: Kareena Kapoor Khan or Momina Mustehsan?

Both stars donned a Faraz Manan attire...

KARACHI: Singer Momina Mustehsan's brother got married last weekend and the Coke Studio sensation has been sharing moments from the celebrations on social media. From all the outfits she donned at the events, it was the one she wore to the nikkah ceremony that caught my attention immediately.

Last year, Bollywood starlet Kareena Kapoor Khan stepped out in the same Faraz Manan number at a Malabar Gold and Diamonds event held in Dubai. While both leading ladies carried the ensembles in their own style, here's my verdict on who I feel pulled off the attire better.

MOMINA MUSTEHSAN

Outfit

Momina's kameez was heavily adorned with silver sequins and zari work, consisting of a sherwani collar and scalloped hem.

Hair and Makeup

The Aaya Na Tu crooner kept the makeup soft, in blush tones to correspond with the outfit. Her brows, on the other hand, were very bold and I am yet to decide whether or not they work - I'll get back to you on that...

One thing I am sure of though, is that I was underwhelmed by Momina's choice of hairstyle. I'm guessing it was supposed to be in waves but just ended up looking quite scruffy. Granted, Karachi's humidity really doesn't help but maybe she needs to go heavier on the hairspray next time.

Accessories

Although Momina chose mellow makeup, she opted for heavy jewellery composing earrings and a choker. She explained in one of her Instagram posts that the jewels she wore are a family heirloom, passed down over five generations. I understand that she really wanted to wear something sentimental at an important family celebration however, it simply did not work.

The jewellery featured a gold base and was ornamented with pearls, adding a very traditional feel to her overall look. Contrarily, the outfit was cool-toned and quite modern; enhanced with silver embellishments. Therefore, quite frankly, the two elements did not go together.

Outfit

Although it's the same dress, it was much better-fitted to the Veere Di Wedding actor, showing off her toned silhouette and not making it seem as though the cloth was drowning her.

Hair and Makeup

Kareena opted for smokey eyes, pink lips and heavily blushed cheeks which tied in with her outfit beautifully. Sweeping her hair back in a low sleek bun was a wise choice as she could show off that gorgeous collar and keep the overall look clean.

Accessories

The Ki & Ka star's jewellery choice was also better suited as it entailed a set of diamond waterfall earrings... and that's it. It ends there. Less is definitely more in this case as a necklace would seem quite out of place underneath that firm neckline and may even have taken away from the garment itself.

Verdict:


Although it's evident that Momina put in a lot of effort with her overall appearance, for me, it was Kareena who stole the show. The actor's choice to keep her hair, makeup and accessories to a minimum made all the difference.
