The Pakistan Army has refuted a report about assuring Pashtun Tahafuz Movement protesters in North Waziristan that a serving captain would be court martialed so that they would end their protest.

However, DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor says an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain facts in the alleged killing of a boy during an earlier protest.

He also said that the Voice of America (VOA) Deewa, a Pashtu language service, “keeps up its tradition of false reporting. People of Waziristan are peace loving and value the attained peace.”

The VOA Deewa had earlier reported that MNA Mohsin Dawar of PTM announced an end to the sit-in after successful negotiation with the armed forces.
