PESHAWAR:

Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that the recent resolution passed by the joint sitting of the parliament isn’t the first of its kind, adding that a similar resolution was passed during a joint session of parliament on national security in October 2008, which was completely overlooked and sidelined.

Addressing the Ulema Convention at JUI-F provincial secretariat, Fazl said that the US violated Pakistan’s sovereignty by conducting the operation against Osama bin Laden and the institution which was responsible for this failure threw the blame on politicians instead of accepting responsibility.

He said that the situation will only change if the government starts delivering upon parliament’s decision. “Drone attacks are being carried out even after the approval of the resolution but we are not responding. Are we waiting for our army to be attacked by the drones?” Fazl questioned, rhetorically.

Criticising the government, Fazl said that the ruling elite talks about national reconciliation only when it needs a support base. He said that the US and its allies were working towards isolating the Pakistan Army and to deprive Pakistan of its nuclear assets. “The JUI-F will not let the Pakistan Army be alone,” he said.

He criticised US policies saying Washington has imposed a politics of fear on the world. “The war in Afghanistan has conflagrated due to the wrong policies of Nato and the US,” Fazl said. He also demanded that the nation be given details of the investigations into the PNS Mehran incident.

Sultan Ahmed | 12 years ago | Reply The situation invite us to think what kind of human being called insurgent and killing innocent people including women and children. What kind of training they receive from, What kind of power behind them, they are briefed but no one know the lesson they read, animal has some sense but they are absolutely senseless ,shrines has been destroyed by them, even bearded and turbaned are not safe. Now we should admit that,in such circumstances Pakistan is compelled to take steps along with the united states against insurgents.
