A large number of people staged a protest on Sunday against the death of a seven-year-old girl in a road accident at Aik Mauriya Pull late on Saturday night.
The protesters blocked the road for traffic and demanded justice for the victim.
Police said the girl was on her way home on a motorcycle with his father when a speeding truck crashed into their vehicle. Resultantly, the girl died on the spot while her father suffered serious injuries. The deceased and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital where the condition of the injured is stated to be critical.

The incident infuriated the residents who gathered at the site, placed the body on the road and blocked it for traffic. They also caught the truck driver, beat him up and later handed him over to the police.
A police team on information reached the spot, collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements of the eyewitnesses.
Casualties and injuries due to road accidents are a serious issue in Lahore. A day earlier, two young men had died in a road accident in Gajjumatta. Last year, over 420 people had died on the spot in road accidents while thousands were injured.
Meanwhile, the bodies of two young men who had drowned in a canal in Raiwind on Saturday were recovered by rescue 1122 on Sunday.
Police said two cousins, identified as Muhammad Babar and Asif, residents of Manga Road had gone to Raja Jang Canal and they drowned while swimming. Locals informed the police and rescue teams launched the rescue operation. On Sunday, they recovered the bodies and handed them over to the families after completing legal formalities.

On Saturday night, two persons were injured in an incident of firing in a Sanjuk Marriage Hall in Baghbanpura. Police said guests were enjoying at a marriage ceremony when unidentified armed suspects barged into the hall and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, two persons identified as Zahid Zaman and Nadeem received bullet injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital.
Later, a police team reached the spot, collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and recorded statements of the witnesses. Police also collected CCTV footage of the incident and are looking into the case.
