KMU senate agrees to revise budget in Peshawar

The apex decision-making body of the Khyber Medical University on Thursday decided to revise the annual budget estimates and surplus budget estimates for the fiscal year 2018-19.
The Khyber Medical University (KMU) Senate met at the Governor House in Peshawar on Thursday with the meeting chaired by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra.

During the meeting, he said that the KMU, being the sole public sector medical university of the province, it had the heavy responsibility of coping with the health-related issues confronting by the society in shape of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Chairing the 12th meeting of KMU’s Senate, Jhagra stressed that result-oriented research should be the main focus of the university’s academic programmes besides imparting quality education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. “I feel delighted to see the medical education institutions like KMU are making vital progress in imparting quality education with special focus on research and development,” he added.
Earlier, while presenting the annual report to the Senate, KMU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Arshad Javaid elaborated that they have received more than 35 research grants worth over Rs65 million from national and international organizations.
KMU issues instructions for entrance test
KMU organized two international and two national conferences in 2017-2018, while more than 194 research articles in high impact factor journals have been published.
Later on, the house discussed the recommendation made by the finance and planning committee in its meeting held on May 8 and endorsed by the syndicate in its meeting held on May 15. Regarding the PhD Retention Allowance, the Senate agreed with a proposal that the KMU shall take up the case with the provincial government through a self-contained summary.
The house also approved recommendations of the anomaly committee, duly endorsed by the Syndicate in its May meeting, except the point of eligibility criteria for the faculty positions for the Health Profession Education which is sub-judice in the Peshawar High Court.
