Youth affairs: Career counselling project to be launched
Youth will be provided guidance along the lines of developed countries, says Subzwari.
KARACHI:
A career counselling project worth Rs1.5 million will be launched in Sindh, announced Sindh Minister for Youth Affairs Faisal Subzwari on Thursday.
The project will be a project between Capacity Builders and the British Council. The minister said that this project aims to provide guidance to the youth of the province, according to their aptitude and talent along the lines of developed countries.
“Unfortunately no such institution that could guide the talented youth existed in Pakistan while, in developed countries, there are a number of institutions for career counselling,” he said.
Youth affairs secretary Shoaib Siddiqui said that his department has been holding seminars, symposia and workshops on career counselling at educational institutions for one year. The British Council director for Sindh and Balochistan, Mashhood Rizvi, said that his organisation would select popular career counselling models to guide the youth of Sindh. In order to be selected for these courses, the candidates would have to pass a test. They would receive free international-level certificates at the end of the course, he added.
Meanwhile, former city mayor Mustafa Kamal said that specialised manpower is a requirement is almost every profession and that career counselling would be a great help for young people.
