Suicide: Young man jumps from court building

HYDERABAD:

A young man committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of district and sessions courts building on Friday.

Police said that the 28-year-old was produced before the twelfth judicial magistrate by Sakhi Pir police station after he was arrested the previous night in an inebriated condition.

The suspect reportedly escaped from police custody and jumped from the top floor of the court building. He was immediately taken to Civil hospital but doctors were unable to save him as he had suffered severe head injuries.

The investigation officer (IO) of Cantt police station, in whose remit the court building is located, told The Express Tribune that an FIR has been registered under sections 325 and 224 to investigate how the deceased was able to escape from the police. “During investigation, if it is found that policemen were in any way responsible for his death then action would be taken against them,” SIO Khalid Bughio said.
