AJK govt decides to reduce flour price by Rs2.25 per kg
PM orders strict action against sale of substandard flour in the market
MUZAFFARABAD:
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Wednesday approved reduction of flour prices by Rs2.25 per kg to give relief to the general public in the state.
The approval was granted at a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Dr Najeeb Naqi, Minister for Food, Syed Shoukat Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Mian Waheed-ud-Din, Secretary Finance, Secretary Food and Special Secretary with Prime Minister.
It was decided that the new prices of different verities of flour will be implemented with immediate effect. The meeting also reviewed the progress of new state-of-the-art food testing lab, which will be start functioning in the next year.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Haider directed the officials concerned to take immediate measures for provision of quality flour to the people of AJK and also directed to strictly check the substandard flour being sold in the state.
Anti-Competitive Practices: CCP issues notice to flour mills
He took notice of the substandard flour available in the market ordered stern action against those companies who are engaged in importing low quality flour into Azad Kashmir.
The prime minister also issued directives for the up gradation of flour mills and supply of the flour in the state and added that he will supervise the process of flour supply in the state.
Inflation touches 45-month high at 5.8%
He said that there will be no compromise on the quality of flour since around 5000 people of Azad Kashmir are associated with flour industry. The prime minister also assured that problems being faced by the flour mills owners will be addressed on priority.
