ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has issued a show-cause notice to the Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) for violating Section 4 of the Competition Act 2010 by indulging in anti-competitive practices. The commission took notice of reports that the PFMA and its members had increased prices of various categories of wheat flour and its byproducts between 2015 and 2016. The commission also conducted an inspection of PFMA premises and seized relevant documents and material. After examining the record, the commission’s enquiry report concluded that the association had taken decisions to fix and increase prices of flour and communicated the decisions to its members for compliance.
