The strike call was given by the National Party and in response bazaars, shopping centres, business establishments, private banks and shops remained closed in Turbat, Gwadar, Pasni, Panjgur, Jewani and Ormara.
Quetta faces blackouts, water shortage
Protestors blocked the coastal highway and staged a sit-in due to which all kinds of traffic were suspended.
They put up barricades and boulders on the highway linking Makran with Karachi and other areas of Balochistan.
Women also blocked the Quetta-Karachi National Highway in the industrial town of Hub.
'City area people ready to take to streets over water shortage'
In Gwadar, members of civil society and hundreds of other people marched on different roads carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands. They chanted slogans against the government and Quetta Electric Supply Company officials.
Power supply was suspended from Iran to all the three districts of Makran, including Panjgur, Turbat and Gwadar. Qesco officials said that power supply was suspended from Iran due to developing fault in the main transmission line linking Makran division with Iran.
The strike will continue on Saturday (today) also.
