Book on camels launched

Book gain immense popularity among students, breeders, camel farmers and experts on veterinary sciences

LAHORE: The experts from University of Agriculture Faisalabad have written the first ever-book in the country on the reproductive health of camels titled “Reproductive Physiology and Health Management in Camels” based on their research work. The book was written by Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Qureshi and co-authored by Dr Nazir Ahmad in collaboration with Muhammad Na’af Qasim from UAE. The book consists of nine chapters and highlights the animal’s reproductive health and different diseases related to camels. The book has gained immense popularity among students, breeders, camel farmers and experts on veterinary sciences. Zafar Iqbal said that the country has a population of one million camels, especially in the area of Thar, Cholistan, Bahawalpur, and Balochistan. He said that camels were found in West Asia, South Africa, the subcontinent, America and other places. He said camel milk was full of nutrition and is ideal for liver and sugar patients. He maintained the milk contains high content of proteins with protective and antimicrobial properties.
