New driving facilitation centre opens at LHC

LAHORE: A new driving facilitation centre was opened at the Lahore High Court on Tuesday.

Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Rai Ejaz Ahmad along with current and former leadership of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) inaugurated the facility.

Incumbent President Anwar ul Haq Punnu, former president LHCBA Ahsan Bhoon, secretary LHCBA and a large number of lawyers were also present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmad said that the establishment of the centre will facilitate lawyers in getting issued their driving learners’ permits, renewal of their license on expiry or lost and issuance of international license. He added that this would save the precious time of lawyers and their clients and the will not have to go to the driving centres outside the courts premises.

He claimed that CTPL following the policy of door-to-door licensing, licenses were being issued to citizens at their door steps. CTPL has established 18 driving licensing facilitation centres throughout the city, including Cantonment, Defence, Manwan, Railway Station, Ravi Road, CTO Office, Liberty, Ichra, Thokar Niaz Beg, Pajjian, Moon Market, Lower Mall, Townhall, Arfa Karim Tower, Samanabad and Green Town. However, there was a need to establish more centres keeping in view the increased demand.

Besides these centres, a mobile learners’ van was working for colleges, universities and private and government departments. Moreover, four driving testing centres and a mobile testing van was also functional. Six driving schools under “Trained Drivers Safe Roads Programme” have also been set up.
