A Chamkani police station officer told The Express Tribune that Inspector Shakir, in charge of a Custom’s mobile squad, was deputed on the Grand Trunk Road (GT Road) when they stopped a bus (bearing registration numbers Z-6966) for checking.
“It was found to be full of smuggled goods and they asked two occupants of the bus to take the vehicle to the Customs House so that a case could be registered,” the police officer said, adding that initially, the occupants of the bus complied. However, when they reached the Pir Zakori flyover, the driver and his helper threw the two Customs officials, Constables Irfanullah and Roohullah, out of the vehicle and attempted to flee.
