Saheefa Jabbar Khattak expresses discomfort on sexualising kids
Upcoming drama serial Beti shows the misery of women who are unable to give birth to a boy. Starring Fahad Mirza and Saheefa Jabbar Khattak in lead roles, the first look shows the duo sharing crackling chemistry.
Written by Sophia Khurram and directed by Mohsin Mirza, Beti satirises the irony that daughters are still considered a burden in families. Such practices are culturally embedded in our society and facing gender bias can lead to terrible consequences in households. The serial focuses on people who seek monetary gains instead of accepting the blessing of parenthood.
In Beti, Khattak is sidelined by the society with restrictions imposed upon her. Her character belongs to a well-settled, literate family who is raised by her mother as the father passed away when she was young. She then falls in love with her college mate and eventually gets married to him.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Khattak said, "My character's in-laws have a conservative mindset and are adamant on their preference of a boy over a girl. There is a sigh of relief as her husband is supportive and has a different mindset from his family."

Beti embarks the journey of a woman who breaks the stereotype and struggles hard to find justice for herself and her daughter. The serial is set to hit TV screens in two months time.
