US and Saudi Arabia working on new defense projects

The US will provide dozens of new US-built F-15 combat aircraft worth $60 billion to Saudi Arabia.

The United States and Saudi Arabia are working together to take their defense relations to a larger level. US will help Saudi Arabia create air and missile system against its regional rival, Iran, reported AP.

The two nations are also working on building an elite force that will protect Saudi Arabia’s oil resources and future nuclear sites, reported AP.

Despite the Saudi Arabia’s anger regarding US’s response towards the conflicts in the arab world, the two countries are working together to eliminate the al Qaeda threat and Iran’s ambitious nuclear project.

Saudi Arabia is the 3rd largest source of the US oil imports. The Obama administration is keen to ease tensions and work together with its major ally in the Middle East.
