PML-N MPA Kanwal Nouman quits party citing 'personal reasons'

Actor-turned-politician says she used to think Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a kind heart

Actor-turned-politician Kanwal Nouman on Tuesday joined the growing list of lawmakers parting ways with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Nouman, who was elected on a Punjab Assembly reserved seat for women, told The Express Tribune she was leaving the party due to "personal reasons". She said she had "nothing against" the PML-N.

In her resignation letter, Nouman said she had reservations that had not been addressed by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.  While Nouman remained tight lipped on exactly why she had abandoned ship, she said lack of attention from Sharif on issues highlighted had left her crestfallen. The actor said she used to think the Punjab chief minister had a kind heart.

Over two dozen lawmakers from both, the national and provincial assemblies have parted ways with the PML-N till the filing of this report.
