Surgical tower opens at Mayo Hospital
Says revolutionary steps are being taken for improving the health sector

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly built state-of-the-art surgical tower at Mayo Hospital on Friday. Comprising 385 beds, the tower has different sections, including 16 operation theatres, the latest CT scan machines and a burns unit, which has 91 beds. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that revolutionary steps were being taken for improving the health sector. He said that the latest CT scan machines had been installed at the surgical tower and patients would be provided the facility 24 hours a day. The latest medical equipment had been made available in the operation theatres of surgical tower adding that digital angiography and vesicular surgery was being introduced for the first time in Pakistan, he added. He appreciated the health department for ensuring timely and qualitative construction of surgical tower and acknowledged that the 6-storey building was equipped with modern medical facilities which would give the best treatment to patients. Various provincial ministers, assembly members, doctors and staff were present at the event.
