Riz Ahmed offers to write 'Ms Marvel' screenplay with Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani

Pakistani-British actor Riz Ahmed has offered to write the script for the first Muslim origin superhero, Ms Marvel. 

Taking to Twitter, the Venom star roped in Mindy Kaling and the Big Sick famed star Kumail Nanjiani. He wrote, "So when do Marvel Studio want me, Mindy Kaling and Kumail Nanjiani to get started on the MsMarvel screenplay?"

Kaling, in respond to Ahmed's tweet, said she was in love with the character. "Riz! I am obsessed with this comic book, I’ve read them all. I love Kamala Khan," wrote the Ocean 8 star.

In a BBC interview, Marvel president Kevin Fiege confirmed that after 2019’s Captain Marvel, the studio will be planning a Ms Marvel film. In the Marvel comics, Ms Marvel is inspired by Captain Marvel to become a hero, hence the similarity in the name.



Fiege also mentioned that the studio is currently filming Captain Marvelwith Brie Larson in the lead. It will be Marvel’s first solo female superhero film where a female pilot named Carol Danvers turns into Captain Marvel after an encounter with aliens.

Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel will have a huge role to play in the Marvel Universe starting with Avengers 4.
