Special Concerns: Deaf students protest for university
Punjab special education secretary had announced setting up a higher secondary school for hearing impaired children.
SARGODHA:
Hundreds of hearing impaired students and parents protested on Fatima Jinnah Road for a higher secondary school to be set up at Sargodha. During his visit to the district in 2010, Punjab special education secretary announced setting up a higher secondary school and separate campuses for hearing impaired children despite five months having passed. Parents said that after intermediate, there was no higher education institution for special children. “Hundreds of special students are unable to continue their graduate and postgraduate education because universities only have a limited quota for such students,” said school for special children, Faisalabad teacher Rukhsana Humayun.
