Suspect in corruption cases has allegedly broken out of Malir prison

The Malir judicial magistrate expressed dismay over the disappearance of a prisoner accused of corruption of millions of rupees from jail. Issuing a show cause notice to the superintendent of the District Jail, Malir, the court demanded the record of prisoner's stay at the jail.

Plaintiff Noor Zada and his lawyers appeared before the Malir judicial magistrate and informed him that the court has summoned accused Shaukat Hayat multiple times but the police have remained unable to produce him before the court.
The lawyer revealed that the court had also become sceptical of the matter, upon which the plaintiff hinted that the accused had escaped from the jail. The court issued a show cause notice to the jail’s superintendent after learning of the escape of the prisoner involved in million rupee corruption cases.
Jail authorities refuse to present Shahrukh Jatoi before court
In the show cause notice, the magistrate has questioned the superintendent about the prisoner’s whereabouts, how he escaped and who is responsible for it. The magistrate has inquired how long the prisoner has been missing and why the court was not informed about the incident. The magistrate has also questioned if they prisoner had been released and if so, how he was released without a court order. The hearing was adjourned with directives for the record to be submitted.

Hayat was involved in a corruption case of Rs95 million and was arrested by the Steel Town police. Cases against him have been registered at the Shah Latif and Sakhan police stations.
