GDA to contest elections under one symbol

The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), an alliance of different political parties, announced that it would contest the upcoming elections under one symbol. In this connection an application was submitted on Monday to the election commission to register the GDA as a political party and allot an election symbol to it.

The GDA is headed by the spiritual leader of Hur Jamaat, Pir Pagara, and among other parties and individuals who are part of this alliance are former PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza, former chief minister Arbab Ghualm Rahim, Ayaz Latif Palijo of Qaumi Awami Tehreek, former chief minister Ghous Ali Shah and Ghous Bux Mahar of Shikarpur.

Speaking to the media outside the election commission office, Palijo, who is also spokesperson of the alliance, said, "An application for the symbol has been given by Pir Pagara, who is currently heading this alliance". He added that in the last 10 years, the PPP government has looted Sindh's resources. "The incumbent government has failed to deliver in Sindh," he said.

Responding to a question about the caretaker government, Palijo said that all political parties must be taken into confidence over the new caretaker setup in the province. He also demanded that corrupt leaders and bureaucrats be arrest for bungling billions of rupees.
