Making an effort: ‘Agriculture sector being upgraded’  

The government has taken several measures for improvements within the sector

MULTAN: The agriculture sector is being upgraded along scientific lines to meet contemporary challenges, while also improving the financial condition of farmers, said Assistant Director Information Naveed Asmat Kohloon in a statement issued on Sunday. The government has taken several measures for improvements within the sector such as introducing special packages worth Rs212million, subsidies on fertilizers, interest-free loans, provision of cheap electricity to run tube wells and promoting certified seeds, he elaborated. Agriculture growth for this year remains to be 3.81%, which is the highest it has been for the past 13 years, he added.
