LAHORE: A legislator of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demanded the government seek an explanation from police high-ups over the failure of the police department in controlling crime ratio despite spending billions of rupees. The demand was made by PTI’s legislator Malik Taimoor Masood through his resolution submitted in the Punjab Assembly on Saturday. He contended that billions of rupees were being spent on police department but all in vain as the police have failed in controlling crime rate in the province. He said the newly-formed dolphin force has also failed in achieving its target. He said in first three months of the current year, around 109 people were killed and the number of child sexual abuse cases has increased too. He claimed that the crime rate increased after setting up the new police force. He demanded of the House to seek an explanation from high-ups of the police department for their failure in controlling law and order in the province.
