Calling Attention: Yarn body concerned over high prices
Yarn prices have increased significantly and the domestic polyester fabric industry is facing issues
KARACHI:
The Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association (PYMA) has expressed concern over the continuous increase in price of yarn, and has requested the government to take immediate notice. In their appeal to the government, the PYMA leaders have drawn attention towards non-availability of raw yarn material as per the demand, stating that domestic filament yarn manufacturers are getting undue advantage of regulatory duty imposed on imported polyester yarn. Due to this, yarn prices have increased significantly and the domestic polyester fabric industry is facing issues. The PYMA office-bearers said that domestic polyester filament yarn manufacturers do not have the capacity to meet production demand of local industries.
