Prosecutors stage protest outside Sindh High Court
They have been demanding promotions and increase in perks

Employees of the provincial prosecution department started on Monday a protest campaign against the government's failure to fulfil its promises regarding the promotions and provision of perks to the law officers in the province.
Holding banners and shouting slogans, prosecutors and other employees of the department staged their protest outside the Sindh High Court.
They demanded that the government fulfil its promises made to the prosecution department's law officers and other staff. They warned that in case their demands were not met, they would stage a sit-in for an indefinite time period outside the Sindh Assembly.

Speaking at the protest, Sindh Prosecution Welfare Association (SPWA) President Iqbal Ahmed Solangi said a petition seeking direction for the government to promote prosecutors and other employees along with a raise in salaries and allowances had been pending disposal before the high court for a long time. He demanded that the government announce an upgraded pay scale for them, along with medical health cards, self-hiring and other facilities on par with judicial employees.
The SPWA president recalled that last year the prosecutors ended their protest after Law Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar had assured them that their issues would be resolved within the next two months. He lamented that the government had so far made no progress to fulfil its promises.
