A woman and her son were arrested on Monday after being presented before a court by Steel Town police in connection with a 2017 killing.

Police told the court that Yaqoob Arif had been killed in Karachi's Mominabad area by his wife and son in cold blood, Express News reported. Following an initial probe, the case was transferred to Steel Town police from West Zone. The woman then confessed to killing her husband in cold blood.

In a shocking incident of target killing a Chinese national, working at a non-CPEC related private shipping firm in Karachi, was shot dead in broad daylight in an upscale neighbourhood last month.

The incident took place near Zamzama Park in Neelum Colony area around 2:52pm. The place where the incident took place is nearly half a kilometre away from Clifton police station.

“The Two Chinese nationals left their office at around 1:30pm for lunch at a restaurant in Block-2 Clifton,” read a press statement by the Karachi South DIG “After having lunch they moved towards Neelum Colony opposite Zamzama Park to purchase vegetables and fruits.”
