DHA streets will be lit up soon, KESC says

KARACHI:
The streets of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) will be lit up soon as its administrator has requested officials from the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) to help them out.

A delegation from KESC led by its chief executive officer Tabish Gohar met DHA administrator Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi on Thursday. They discussed the supply of electricity in Defence and agreed to replace missing poles for streetlights, conductors and bulbs.

A joint committee of KESC, DHA and the Clifton Cantonment Board will be set up to survey the area and devise a strategy to keep alternate streetlights operational.

The committee will also resolve all technical, procedural and billing issues.

More areas in DHA Phase VIII will be electrified by energising sub stations and providing electric feeders.

Tirmizi said that a large number of people have started moving to Phase VIII since Sector A has been opened for construction while Sector B will be opened for construction by the end of the year. Commercial areas in Sector B need electricity immediately as construction has started there, he said.

Gohar assured that they will help out in DHA’s new schemes on the Super Highway but it requires more investments while Tirmizi agreed to help KESC avert stealing of copper wires by arranging a joint patrolling team of the DHA Vigilance Force and KESC security teams.

Tirmizi also suggested that KESC place a complaint cell detachment in DHA’s main office so that they can resolve problems on time when the monsoon season arrives.
