As part of its ongoing efforts to encourage road safety awareness, ride-sharing company Uber, was seen supporting the biking community of roadies at their ‘Ride for Safety’ awareness event. The event took place in Lahore, at the Gaddafi Stadium on April 1, 2018.
For each rider who took part in the event, Uber donated a helmet to every motorcyclist who lacked the vital safety gear. Uber’s newest product uberMOTO bikers, joined the upcoming rally to demonstrate their cohesive support for the cause.
The reason Uber came up with such an event is because of the prevalent road accidents that occur in Pakistan. Every year, approximately 2.69% of Pakistanis die due to catastrophic road accidents. Since 50% of accidents happening in the country involve bikers, it was about time motorcyclists raised awareness in regards to the safety practices.
As safety is a priority of Uber, the Uber team reinforced bikers to diligently wear helmets when driving. All the bikers gathered for the cause yesterday at the Gaddafi Stadium. The initiative Uber has taken was worthy of an applause and we hope that people were empowered to make better and safer choices while driving on the roads.
