Two-month drive: Govt to start cleanliness competition from April 1

PESHAWAR: Where the citizens of Peshawar are beleaguered by the dust of the under-construction Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced to start a competitive cleanliness drive across the province among the institutions responsible.

The Performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) of the K-P Chief Secretary office has issued directives about holding a cleanliness competition drive among 77 Tehsil Municipal Administrations, six Water and Sanitation Services Companies and local institutions responsible for cleanliness and removing of waste from their respective jurisdictions.

The competition would start from April 1 and would continue until June 30 of this year. The aim of the competition is to provide clean atmosphere to the general public throughout the province and motivate the concerned departments and institutions for a healthy competition.

The PRMU has set a criteria for the determination of the winners of the competition and those securing the first, second and third position in the competition would be awarded Rs30 million, Rs20 million and Rs10 million respectively in cash prizes.

The prizes will be divided with 80% and 20% ratio between the body and its employees ranges from sanitary staff to its head.
