KARACHI: A District South judicial magistrate accepted police challan in Zafir Zuberi's murder case. According to challan submitted by the investigation officer, Zafir was on a visit to Sea View along with his friend Azhaan.

Khawar Burney chased down and opened fire on Zafir after his car hit his friend on a motor cycle. Khawar was identified by two witnesses along with Muhammad Rahim, the other accused in the case, while Khawar's reported accomplices Hassan Burney and Raza were acquitted because of non-identification by the witnesses.

According to police, bullet shells recovered from the crime scene belonged to Khawar's pistol. "Bullets found in Zafir's body also matched with Khawar's weapon" the challan said, adding that the heavy bike used by Hammad during the incident was also taken into police custody. Abdul Rehman, a main witness in the case, identified Khawar before a judicial magistrate.

Khawar's firing also injured Zaid, the police said, claiming that the witness statement for the case had also been attached with the challan.
