PU and China’s NEU sign MoU
Punjab University and North Eastern University signs a MoU for launching the joint doctoral programme

Punjab University (PU) and China’s North Eastern University (NEU) signed a memorandum of understanding for launching a joint doctoral programme on Monday. The MoU states that the joint training programme will be launched for a PhD in history and both parties will recruit qualified postgraduate students from China. During the four year programme, students will spend the first year at PU, finishing the basics and the remaining three researches at NEU, which is ranked among the top 40 out of 500 universities in China. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Zakria Zakar expressed that Pakistan and China were old friends. The academic institutions of both countries must enhance academic collaboration due to the increasing bilateral relations between China and Pakistan. “CPEC will bring prosperity for Pakistan and we must prepare ourselves for the benefits that will come as a result of the mega project,” he added. Faculty of Arts Dean Prof Muhammad Iqbal Chawla, NEU director and others were present on the occasion.
