Deputy Commissioner Nadir Chatha accompanied by Deputy Mayor Munawar Ahsaan and Italian archaeology experts inaugurated the rehabilitation of Haram Gate. The Haram Gate is one of the six historic gates of the interior city. The rehabilitation work was completed at a cost of Rs8.7 million in collaboration with the Italian government for the Walled City project. An Italian expert, Prof Adelbo, said that Pakistan and Italy enjoyed friendly ties and this project was a good example of the friendship both the countries shared. Italian experts have taken a keen interest in the revival and rehabilitation of the city of Multan. Official sources revealed that the total cost of the Walled City project was Rs422 million. The rehabilitation of Haram Gate and its adjacent site was one part of the project. Deputy Commissioner Nadir Chatha said that the Walled City project would help revive the history of the old city. He added that the completion of the project would also help to boost tourism in the area. He said that hundreds of buildings were also coloured during the Rung do Multan campaign.
