The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday barred the federal government from appointing new recruits in state-run hospitals.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, heard of the facilities offered at the government hospitals in the federal capital. The CJP remarked that an oxygen cylinder worth Rs5,000 had been bought for Rs22,000.

"It is a big development that Rs3 crore in this case have been recovered," he said. Recruitment is barred from PIMS and NIRM. The Supreme Court appointed Dr Fazal Mola head of NIRM hospital.

Will not spare those facilitating Rao Anwar: CJP

During dialogues with the Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development (CAD), Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, the CJP remarked that without the court’s intervention "no proceedings are done."

"The quorum of the parliament does not get complete, the office matters remain undone, the time you spend on political rallies, its better you spend the time doing your work," Justice Nisar added.

"Why does PIMS not have a chief as yet?" The CJP expressed concern to Chaudhary, who replied saying the post had been scratched, but has been reinstated now.

"Islamabad’s biggest hospital is running without a chief," Justice Ijaz ul Hassan remarked.

Are you a medical doctor? CJP questions Tariq. "Yes I am a medical doctor," he responds. "So then people like you, who are educated should be deployed in such institutions," the CJP remarked.

Chaudhary said the notice for the appointment of an executive director for PIMS was sent to the Prime Minister on Thursday.“We should summon Chaudhry Fawad Chaudhry and ask him if this is true," the bench remarked.

The CJP further remarked that in this country people want to fight elections through jobs and recruitment. “Those who get jobs, their families will then be voting for the ones who got them employment.”

The SC ordered the government to halt recruitment in governmental hospitals. At this, the minister of state showed concern and asked for the judgement to be reviewed again. The CJP remarked that the current government only has two more months left in power. "The next elected government can decide on the matter of speeches when they come," he added.

ISI report spills beans on Faizabad dharna

Earlier today, the SC reiterated that those facilitating Rao Anwar and others accused in the Naqeebullah case, will not be spared, reported Express News.

The three-judge bench headed by teh CJP began hearing the suo motu case Monday morning. During the hearing, CJP Nisar stated that if Anwar comes to court he will be provided security and he will be safe. CJP also wondered who had provided Anwar help at the airport and stated those helping him will not be spared by the court. Inspector General Sindh AD Khawaja told the court that Anwar was provided a boarding pass of a private airline.
