Pakistan wants to work for a future where ‘no one is left behind’

Pakistan expressed firm commitment in achieving Sustainable Development Goals with a focus towards women empowerment, said Pakistan's Lead representative to the Commission on Status of Women at the United Nations Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Khan.

Speaking at the 62nd Session of the Commission, Dr Shezra highlighted Pakistan's Vision for the coming years.



She said that Pakistan gives utmost priority to gender equality and women development in the public sector and is cultivating equal participation for women in political affairs.

Dr Shezra also expressed Pakistan’s commitment to earnestly working with members of the international community, for a future where ‘no one is left behind’ in the pursuit of self-fulfillment and prosperity.

A recent surge of programs promoting women entrepreneurship has been observed.

At Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), female participants put up a great show to promote women entrepreneurs in Business festival WIBFEST on Sunday at Lok Virsa.



"It is an alarming situation that only 20 per cent of women work after getting a professional degree", stated Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair on Sunday while speaking at an award distribution ceremony organised by Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), Karachi at Governor House.

Zubair was of the view that those Pakistani women who were working, were extremely talented. Women have proven their worth in the fields of medicine, administrative services, accountancy, banking, business, entrepreneurship, social work and politics by working with devotion and dedication, the governor said, adding that the nation was thankful to its women for their contributions, which helped Pakistan move forward.
