After two years: Police recover woman kidnapped from Bhara Kahu

Unit manages to trace the whereabouts of the woman and arrest her alleged kidnapper

ISLAMABAD: Police have recovered a woman who had allegedly been abducted from the Bhara Kahu area of the capital nearly two years ago.

Police said B* had allegedly been kidnapped in early 2016.

A case for her abduction had been registered and was subsequently transferred to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Islamabad Police.

The unit managed to trace the whereabouts of the woman and arrest her alleged kidnapper, identified as IS*.

A police officer said that during questioning, the suspect had claimed that the two had gotten married of their own volition.

However, the woman has denied this claim.

Officers said that the man has been unable to produce any document which legally certifies their marriage.

The suspect is expected to be produced before a magistrate on Thursday (today), even as police continue their investigations into the case.
