ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday decided to verify multiple complaints of corruption received against Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Law Minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi and others.

The minister and others have been accused of corruption in the procurement of generators and other equipment, etc., also.
NAB also authorised a complaint verification against PPP MNA from Sindh Nawab Wasan and others for allegedly having assets beyond known sources of income.

The bureau also announced that it would also look into a complaint received against KP law minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, PTI MPAs Ziaullah Bangash and Amjad Afridi and District Education Officer of Kohat for their alleged involvement in making 111 illegal appointments in education department for bribes and having assets beyond known sources of income.

Resolving cases: NAB chief wants pending references heard early

“No power can compel NAB to toe its lines,” the NAB chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal was quoted as saying in the statement.
He said NAB was working under the ambit of the relevant law and its main aim of complaint(s) verification, inquiry or investigations was to reach to facts and to conclusion as per law without insulting any one.

“NAB always ensures self-respect and dignity of all persons and detailed instructions have already been issued to all the director generals of NAB in this regard,” the statement said, adding NAB was the apex anti-corruption organisation which was performing its duties in eradication of corruption without any discrimination across the board as per law.

“NAB has no connection with the politics as eradication of corruption is the top most priority of NAB and it would also ensure protecting the nation from the menace of corruption at all costs,” it concluded.
