23 bodies have been found since the beginning of the year
KARACHI:
The bodies of three newborn babies were found near MA Jinnah Road on Wednesday. The police found the bodies wrapped in a piece of cloth in a garbage dump near Taj Medical Complex within the limits of the Brigade police station. Officials said that they found the bodies after locals notified the police. Volunteers from Chhipa Welfare also reached the site.
Brigade SHO Nasarullah said that the bodies were kept at the Chhipa morgue while a case was being registered over the incident. This is not the first such incident to have occurred in Karachi, as a total of 23 bodies of newborns have been found from across the city since the beginning of this year so far, while, despite the registration of cases, the police have yet to make any arrests.
Child’s body fished from canal
Two years ago, the police found the body of a newborn baby boy from the bushes in Jumma Goth in Malir on Saturday.
The residents informed Chhipa Welfare Association whose officials called the police to the site. There was a dispute between Shah Latif police station and Sukkhan police station about whose jurisdiction the body was found in. The police took the body to Jinnah hospital. It was later buried in Mewa Shah Graveyard.
However, the police said that they didn’t know who was responsible for dumping the body and were trying to search for the culprit.
