A dumper truck overturned and crushed a car in Shiekhupura on Sunday, killing four people, according to reports.

Police said that the truck, loaded with rocks, was trying to overtake the car when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Rescue workers used a crane to lift the truck and pull out the bodies from the wreckage, eye witnesses told the media.

One passenger in the car survived with injuries, and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital in the area. The passengers of the car were returning to Mananwala town from Lahore after attending some ceremony.


Two of the people killed in the accident were councilors of the Mananwala Municipal Committee.

In December last year, a woman was killed and two others injured when a female doctor rammed her car into the intensive care unit (ICU) of the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Sheikhupura.

The incident took place after Dr Ayesha Ibrahim lost control of her car and drove it into the hospital’s ICU, Express News reported.

A female staffer at the ICU was killed in the accident and two others were injured.
