Zardari terms harassment of Pakistani diplomats in India ‘uncivilised act’

PPP co-chairman says the Modi government must ensure protection of diplomats

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned reported harassment of Pakistani diplomats and their children in New Delhi, terming it as a serious breach of etiquette.

The Indian disruption is "an uncivilised act" before demanding the authorities to approach the Modi government for explanation and resolve of the issue.

"The Indian government must ensure protection of Pakistani diplomats," he said.



High-level officials and staff of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are reportedly being subjected to different kinds of harassment for the last three days, diplomatic sources told Express News on Saturday.

A senior officer was harassed when his vehicle was stopped in Chanakyapuri neighbourhood of the Indian capital and was left with no other option but to return to the high commission.

In another incident, children of the deputy high commissioner were stopped while going to school and their driver was harassed, said the sources, adding that the two recent accidents involving vehicles of the high commission were also being considered as ‘deliberate acts’.
