Offering resistance: Three shot dead during robbery bid

Victims were carrying cash when suspects intercepted them

Four unidentified robbers shot dead three people for offering resistance during a robbery bid and looted cash near Jhumra Road Railway Crossing within City Police Jaranwala precincts.

A police official said that a cashier of Hussain Sugar Mills Jaranwala and two security guards were carrying Rs9 million cash in a van when they were intercepted by four armed men.

The robbers tried to snatch cash at gunpoint.

However, the security guards put up resistance and as a result, the outlaws opened fire on them and fled with the booty.

Three people identified as Yasin, 50, Ayub, 48, and Rana Shaukat were killed on the spot. Soon after the incident, City Police Jarranwala rushed to the spot and started investigation by taking bodies into custody.


While taking notice of the incident, City Police Officer (CPO) Athar Ismail constituted two police teams, headed by SP CIA and SP Jaranwala, and directed them to trace whereabouts of the culprits and arrest them at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Lyallpur division police claimed to have arrested 17 car snatchers during the current month.

Lyallpur division SP Ahmad Mohiuddin said the police also confiscated two cars, 16 motorcycles, mobile phones and other items from their possession.

The police have registered cases against the accused and started investigation.
