LHC accepts Malik's pleas

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) accepted on Thursday Interior Minister, Rehman Malik's plea against convictions for hearing.

Justice Ijaz Chaudhry recommended the formation of a full court bench for the hearing of these pleas.

The case has been referred to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General, Naveeed Malik, told the court that the President is authorised to pardon any one under article 45.

The president granted pardon to Interior Minister Rehman Malik against his conviction and sentence awarded to him by Rawalpindi Accountability Court in January 2004 under Article 31-A of NAB Ordinance.
