ISLAMABAD: A Maldivian university is seeking to set up bilateral ties with the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).

These issues were discussed between senior officials of AIOU and a delegation from Maldives led by MIANZ International College Rector Dr Amal Ali.

During the visit, the Maldives delegation deeply appreciated AIOU’s free educational schemes such as prisoners, the differently abled, girls who have dropped out and people who are transgender, stating that these schemes could serve as a role model for other countries to follow in accommodating the educational needs of marginalised segments of society.

The five-member delegation, in its meeting with AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui, discussed areas of bilateral cooperation.
