Data Storage: IBM launches new device

IBM announced TS3500 designed to help clients efficiently store and extract intelligence from massive amounts of data.

KARACHI: “The growing storage needs of local corporations, especially the banks, telecom giants and even firms in the public sector that tackle ‘Large Data’ on a daily basis, means a constant update in storage technology”, said IBM Pakistan Country General Manager  Humayun Bashir while talking about the newly announced new tape storage introduced by his company on Monday.

IBM today announced the TS3500 designed to help clients efficiently store and extract intelligence from massive amounts of data.

Bashir while talking to The Express Tribune explained that it would provide an energy efficient solution that would suit Pakistan.

Demand for storage capacity worldwide will continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 49.8 percent from 2009-2014, according to IDC.

Clients require new technologies and ways to capitalise on the growing volume, variety and velocity of information known as “Large Data.”
