Unprovoked firing from across the LoC had killed an elderly man and injured his wife, son on Thursday
Pakistan lodged a protest with India against the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control by the Indian armed forces on Friday.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson, Indian Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh was summoned to lodge a protest against ceasefire violations by the Indian forces. On March 1, the Indian military indulged in ceasefire violations at Bhimbar Sector near LoC.

The FO spokesperson said that unprovoked firing from across the LoC killed Zafar Iqbal while injuring his wife and son in Nihala village.
The Acting Director-General, South Asia told Indian envoy that deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. Ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
He urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement, investigate all incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.

Two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred after the Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Bhimber sector along the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday, the military’s media wing said.
“Pakistan Army troops responded to Indian unprovoked firing. Reports of substantial damage to Indian posts,” said a statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR).
The martyred soldiers are identified as Sepoy Muneer Chohan, a 32-year-old resident of Kahuta village and Sepoy Amir Hussain, 28, a resident of Bhimber district.
