Security tightened: Section 144 imposed as matric exams begin in Lahore
Special inspection teams are formed to check use of illegal means during examinations

Section 144 was imposed on Thursday at all the examinations centres as the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore announced the beginning of matriculation examinations.
This year, a total of 234,000 candidates are appearing for the annual examination. The BISE Lahore has established a total of 812 examination centres for the examination. On the first day, the BISE Lahore conducted examinations of Arabic, Business Studies, Clothing and Textile in the morning. For evening, examinations in the subjects of Food and Nutrition, and Geography were held.
In a statement, BISE Lahore Controller Examinations Prof Nasir Jamil said the board had completed the preparations for the examinations. He said special inspection teams had been constituted to foil any attempt of using illegal means during the examinations. He said fool-proof security arrangements have been made for the candidates at all examination centres. “Section 144 has also been imposed at all examination centres for the security purposes,” he added.
Meanwhile, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Sumair Ahmad Syed has issued directions for the monitoring of annual examinations. He has tasked the assistant commissioners to visit all the schools where examination centres were setup. He instructed the ACs to conduct raids with the help of police and conduct inspections.
