Long overdue :CDA yet to repair Kahuta industrial area roads
Heavy vehicles get stuck on roads dug up four years ago
ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has yet to repair the roads it had excavated in the Kahuta Industrial Triangle four years ago, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) said on Tuesday.
“CDA had uprooted the paved roads in Kahuta Industrial Triangle for repair, but they have yet to be repaired due to which it was difficult for heavy duty vehicles to ply in the area,” ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said due to unpaved roads, the industrial area was mostly covered with dust in rush hours while in case of rain, the roads turned into water pools creating difficulties for heavy duty vehicles and the pedestrians. He said many foreign business delegations used to visit the industrial area for business purposes, but due to dilapidated roads, were feeling discouraged. He stressed upon the CDA to repair all broken roads in the Kahuta Industrial Triangle on urgent basis.
Muhammad Naveed Senior Vice President and Nisar Mirza Vice President, ICCI said that CDA has not developed sewerage system in the said industrial area as yet and the industrialists were working for its development on self-finance basis. They said the provision of street lights and other facilities was also not satisfactory in the Kahuta Industrial Triangle. They said that the industrial area was making good contribution towards exports, but was devoid of required facilities. They stressed that CDA should undertake development works in the Kahuta Industrial Triangle on war footing basis that would help in facilitating the growth of industrial activities, promoting investment, creating new jobs and improving trade and exports of the region.
Waheed said that Kahuta Industrial Triangle was playing important role in promoting industrial activities in the region, but was facing great problems as CDA was paying no attention to address its major issues. He said many industrial units were operating in the said industrial estate, but due to lack of development and facilities were facing difficulties.
