PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has appreciated the Peshawar-based Rehman Medical Institute for its focus on prevention of diseases apart from providing healthcare services and health education.

He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the third RMI Open Golf Tournament at the Peshawar Golf Club on Sunday. The tournament had been arranged by Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) in collaboration with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Golf Association and Peshawar Golf Club.

A number of golfers from across the country had participated in the event.

“Promotion of healthy lifestyles is now globally recognised as the best tool for prevention against disease,” Jhagra said. Appreciating the tournament, he said, it must have provided an opportunity for the renewal and development of golfing skills, and initiation of new acquaintances to the participants.

“As all true sports lovers know, the beauty of the whole exercise is not just in winning but in participating,” he added.

Peshawar, he said, has been blessed with one of the best golf courses in the country where enormous golfing talent exists and all it needs is some support and recognition in order to take them to a national and an international stage.  Such events are a great opportunity to portray Peshawar and the province in a positive light, he added.
