Bill to regularise teachers to be presented in Sindh Assembly today
The teachers were appointed on a contractual basis after passing the NTS, Sindh University tests
KARACHI:
The Sindh Assembly session has been summoned today (Thursday). According to the assembly agenda, a bill to regularise contractual teachers will be presented. According to officials in the education department, those contractual teachers who have been appointed through exams conducted by the National Testing Service and Sindh University will be regularised.
These teachers have been working for a few years, but the government was reluctant to regularise their jobs. This prompted the teachers to stage sit-ins and protests in various towns and cities of the province. After the police baton charged them in Karachi, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari directed the chief minister to regularise the teachers’ appointments. The agenda also includes questions of the katchi abadi department and the Sindh Sales Tax on Services (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Our correspondent
