Health Week: Camps set up in 725 facilities

The Punjab government is setting up health camps in 725 facilities across the province said Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir while addressing a meeting during the 2nd health week.

The camps will provide free testing and screening for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, tuberculosis, AIDS and diabetes. Approximately 800,000 people will be screened from February 19 to 24, he stated.

The government is committed towards providing free health facilities to people at their doorstep, he said. He also requested citizens to visit these camps so that they may benefit from the free testing facility.

Nazir emphasized that the purpose of celebrating Health Week is to provide the people with free of charge medicines and testing facilities.


He said that the primary and secondary health care department is providing free medication worth Rs12 billion to hepatitis B, hepatitis C, TB and AIDS patients. He also urged all CEOs, MS, and officers to participate in making the week a successful one.

Nazir and the Secretary of Health Ali Jan Khan will visit various districts to monitor Health Week. He also assigned special duties to officers for this purpose.

Khan said that the department had provided logistics, medicines and vaccinations regarding Health Week to all districts. He added that the department will not tolerate any kind of negligence during this week.
